As I stood in front of everyone taking these photos I was over-whelmed by a feeling of pride in our amazing team who are all standing together to help keep our company going in these very difficult times.
Our order book has been diminished considerably due to the fact most museums, visitor attractions and retail shops have had to close. But there is still demand from customers with on-line shops as this will be many consumers’ only option for purchasing small gifts and presents over the next few months.
Our textile products, such our tea towels, bags, cushion covers, aprons, cosmetic bags and kitchen textiles, are ideal for on-line shops as they are inexpensive and very easy to post.
We are planning to keep production going for as many days each week as possible. The office will be open five days a week, as my fellow directors, Lawrence and Anita (and incidentally brother and sister-in-law), will be there every day along with a rota of the Sales and Admin Team.
Living in a rural area we all commute in separately so we do not feel coming in to work will add to the spread of the virus. We are also all taking every care within work and are not socialising outside. Obviously if circumstances change we will abide by the latest advice and adjust accordingly.
Speaking with some of our larger customers, they are planning to take this quiet time to design new ranges with us, ready for when better times return. We are very happy to assist with any such requests and will not charge for anything until the order finally goes to production.
We will also rush orders through so please let us know your time-frames and will we will do our utmost to oblige.
In addition we are offering a 10% discount on the total invoice for any new or repeat orders placed and paid for upfront by pro-forma.
Our MD and Finance Director Lawrence foresaw this looming issue back in early January and has been working since then to ensure we had a sensible plan to deal with coronavirus and its impact. Our aim now is to make sure we try to assist our customers through this unprecedented period. Plus ensure we have a viable company able to trade strongly when demand starts to pick up again.
Finally this has made us realise how, if we stand united and are kind to one another, we will get through this. It has also made me realise what a strong bond and sense of community exists between our company and our customers. Such positive thoughts are good things to hold on to for now and the future.
